Design Case Studies

Ecovillage @ nwHacks 2020

Ecovillage is a lifestyle tracking app that measures
carbon emissions for users through gamification.

Infusing consumer behavioural principles with UX, this approach offers a more robust and holistic process for product design.

Upcycle PC (Personal Business)

I watched a heart-wrenching documentary on the unethical and unsustainable dumping of electronics in Ghana and China. I've always loved building things to help others, so I took action.

This was my first taste of Product Management. I built dozens of computers from used electronics at a fraction of the cost of a new system. I figured out the core needs of my users, and built MVPs.

I source used, recycled and new components from a non-profit recycling organization. I find that it's this inability to assess, test, trust and electronic hardware that is the obstacle to cheap, accessible technology. Through transparency and education, I advocate for the sustainable use/disposal of electronics.

Is it pronounced SATA or... SATA?

  • Computer hardware "street-smarts"

  • Reducing landfill waste by sourcing used and refurbished parts

  • Adapting to the needs and constraints users
